Link Building Methods I Use
Okay it seems that some of the newer methods could do with a few tips on link building. So i have made a list of some of the methods i personally use to good effect!
1. Blog Networks
Okay i have given a tutorial on how to make you own blog network but you should always be taking advantage of other peoples blog networks too. Go to the services section of the big webmaster forums like Digital Point, Sitepoint etc to find these guys.
Generally these are people offering your article (with your links in) on 100 blogs or whatever the offer is
2. Blog Commenting
This is another method i personally use a lot as you can get pretty targetted links from some nice blogs is you look around hard enough! As always if your like me you just pay someone to find related blogs and post your comments on them.
3. Edu Blog Commenting
For a start it is believed that .edu domains have more authority than your usual domains. This is a search query i have used in the past to find edu blogs that allow comments on them.
Code:
site:.edu inurl:blog “comment” -”you must be logged in” -”posting closed” -”comment closed” “KEYWORD”
Try it out and see what you can find.
4. Get backlinks on Digg!
This is a really sweet technique that has been circling the BH forums for a while now and i still use it all the time to GUARENTEE PR on the next update.
Instead of rewriting it i will give you the BHW link
Code:
http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-s ... links.html
Its pretty easy to find high PR pages in digg. I have loads of PR 5+ pages with less than 10 comments and whenever i start a new site i add it to one of these pages to kick start the PR.
*CAREFUL USING A GOOD DIGG ACCOUNT WITH THIS AS IM NOT SURE OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF SPAMMING IT*
5. DoFollow Forums
There are thousands of forums out there and there is practically guarenteed to be a decent one surrounding your niche. First check to make sure its dofollow signature links first and if it is your good to go!
Simply add your link to your signature and start posting some useful stuff (copy and paste answers etc) about the niche.
Example being i have a 1000+ posts account at DP which has just been banned for 4 mths i have noticed a drop in serps/traffic to the sites i had in my signature!
6. Link Sharing Networks
I am part of 4-5 link sharing networks on different private forums im part of .. these type of networks work on you get given as many links as you give out! So for instance having sites with 100k's pages indexed helps a lot!
On one of the forums i use the software creaters are due to release a sharing program and i think it will be open to the public, if so ill bob a link here for you guys to sign up!
Okay thats all will do for now .. there are literally thousands of methods of gaining links but these are some i use daily. I will update this thread with more methods specific methods from time to time.

Re: Link Building Methods I Use
Pretty awesome! Thinking of having a VIP link-building forum with tried and tested link lists. That way, for every site one of us creates, we have a steady source of awesome backlinks ready to go.

Re: Link Building Methods I Use
It is awesome for compiling all these here. Hope that we can establish like some sort of link building in the VIP. So that all the sites can be interlinked together to give a boost in ranking.

Re: Link Building Methods I Use
What type of links are you after?
Thats my main question I suppose.
Say I started a new site and I wanted to promote health insurance. I'm using a long tail domain and good on site SEO so as soon as I'm indexed I'm good.
With Web 2.0 property it's good to stay on top of it. A good general list of sites that are really worth your time are the SENuke Account Creation sites.
DoFollow and NoFollow explained.
NoFollow in Google means, no follow. However, several competeing search engines DO follow nofollow links. Were not going to get in to SEO semantics here but don't be discouraged if the property is a nofollow.
With DoFollow you need to be specific here. If you want to rank your posted blog in the top 10, no biggie, but were trying to get link juice to get our new domain in the index for the long tail domain keyword. If you want quick links that stick make sure you've got laser targeted articles and content being posted. You can get a new domain indexed and getting traffic in a week using just the top 5 web 2.0 properties.
Comment Spam: Is it really effective?
If you take the time to find good PR blogs and post comments that will stick your going to get a good boost. Remember, google loves wordpress...sorta. Auto spammers work well but I honestly prefer just hunting the PR blogs down and doing it by hand. It may take an hour or two a day but the links stay and it's not some forgotten blog.
PRStorm: Not a debate.
It works. It can get you in trouble. 99.9% of the people out there use it wrong.
The goal isn't to have 300kurls to ad your referrer mix to. See, the Stats page gets indexed and since it changes often the spiders will start crawling around when the data updates. I find once a month give or take a few weeks. Your goal is to be in the top 10 referrer list when the google spider hits that referrer log!
So realisticly speaking your chances of making it into the top 10 for this goes up if you reduce the amount of sites you have. Stick to just the quality ones and try to hit them at random times. The odds play out kinda funny here. If you got a good awstats url to hit it is either there because someone isn't paying attention to what they are doing or the site is a ghost. It's indexed, but not ranked for anything. Yes, those weak links to add up but if you get them too fast, it will count against you and if you amass a ton of links that have nothing in common with your sites topic, your going to suffer in the serps.
I like PRStorm for giving a site an extra kick while the articles and socialbookmarks begin to do their thing.
I think a lot of people play the obsession game too much though. They get in to marketing and the first milestone is the traffic. It becomes this mission to get as many links as possible and to promote any way possible. When in the end, they could have saved a lot of trouble by doing effective keyword research and picking the domains correctly.
Also, the best results are never free. Sure you can do a ton of SEO and link building without spending a dime but as soon as you got some scratch invest in tools like SENuke and xRumer. There is still a ton of work to do but the tools really do help you a lot.
If you really can't spend money on stuff like that at least do good keyword research. To dominate a niche may take only a few back links!

Re: Link Building Methods I Use
I guess you are right if the niche your targeting sucks. To get real traffic you need real bad ass niches. Not the 40,000 searches a month ones that a few links will get you ranked in.
I followed this method by the gurus for a long time. I targeted niches under 100k searches, put up tons of quality sites and made rankings only to see little traffic. Now I target this big niches. I rank in Google on the big niches, and how you do this is getting a shit ton of backlinks. Yes quality content and design and all that crap matters, but backlinks are what makes rank!
